COMMERCE, TX – Carevide is proud to announce an exciting new partnership with Commerce Independent School District (CISD) to provide healthcare services for district staff, including substitute teachers. The collaboration aims to prioritize the health and well-being of the CISD team by offering convenient, high-quality medical care directly through Carevide’s school-based program.

As this service begins, CISD and Carevide are committed to evolving the program to best meet the needs of staff. Here is everything you need to know about accessing these new benefits.

Prioritizing staff wellness

Nicki Dawson, director of health services for CISD, says the health of the district’s educators and support staff is vital for student success.

“By partnering with Carevide, CISD is making it easier than ever for our employees to address medical concerns without the need for long commutes or extended time away from campus,” Dawson said.

Carevide School-Based provider Haley Rouse, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, graduated from Commerce High School. She expressed pride in the opportunity to provide care for the district’s staff.

“I grew up here. Many of the staff are people I’ve known most of my life,” she said. “It feels good to know that I’m taking care of my friends and neighbors, so they don’t miss a beat in providing an education for the kids in our community.”

Available services

At this time, services for CISD staff are primarily focused on:

  • Acute Illness and Sick Visits: Access to fast care for sudden symptoms or common illnesses.
  • Minor Medical Concerns: Treatment for non-emergency health issues that require professional attention.

As the partnership develops, additional services may be introduced to further support the health of staff members.

Affordable care

Carevide accepts private insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare. Uninsured and underinsured patients are welcome, and are billed on a sliding fee discount scale based on household size and income.

PPO plan participants are typically covered for their normal copay amount.

HMO plan participants are required to either receive a referral from their primary care provider, or change their primary care provider to a Carevide primary care provider.

Referrals

While referral policies vary by provider, HMO participants may be able to receive a referral by contacting their provider’s office directly, without the need for an in-person appointment. It is advised to check with the primary care provider’s office for guidance.

Otherwise, HMO participants may be able to obtain a referral by calling the customer service number on the insurance card to see if an ActiveCare representative can facilitate the referral process.
