Carevide announces an important leadership transition marking a new chapter in the organization’s nearly 50-year history. After 26 years of dedicated service, including more than a decade as Chief Executive Officer, Michelle Carter will step down from her role effective January 1, 2026. After an extensive search, the Carevide Board of Directors has appointed Michael Glas, current Deputy CEO and Chief Financial Officer, as the organization’s next Chief Executive Officer.

Carter will remain with Carevide in a new capacity, continuing to advance the mission she has long championed: providing access to quality, affordable healthcare for all, especially in underserved communities.

“The decision to step down was not made lightly, but it was a thoughtful and intentional choice that allows me to dedicate more time to my personal and family life. Contributing to the community health center mission and serving our local communities for more than 25 years has been an honor,” said Michelle Carter. “I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with teams who bring both talent and heart to this work every day. I am especially grateful to my predecessor and the Board of Directors, whose guidance and support provided me with the opportunities to grow as a leader and make a meaningful impact.  I’m confident that Michael’s leadership will guide the organization to even greater impacts for our communities.”

Since joining Carevide, Carter has guided the organization through significant growth – expanding locations and services, strengthening partnerships, and navigating a rapidly changing healthcare landscape. Her leadership has left a lasting impact on both Carevide and the communities it serves across Northeast Texas.

The Board of Directors expressed its gratitude for Carter’s exceptional leadership and enthusiasm for the organization’s next chapter under Glas’s direction.

“We are deeply grateful for Michelle’s years of service and steady leadership,” said Stan McKee, Chair of the Carevide Board of Directors. “Her leadership has laid the groundwork for a smooth transition to the next generation of leadership, and we are thrilled to welcome Michael Glas as Carevide’s next CEO. His deep understanding of our operations, commitment to our mission, and collaborative approach make him the ideal leader to guide Carevide forward.”

Glas has 13 years of service at Carevide, most recently as Carevide’s Deputy CEO and Chief Financial Officer. In his time with the organization, he has played a key role in strategic planning, financial stewardship, and operational improvements that have strengthened Carevide’s ability to deliver high-quality, compassionate care.

“I’m honored to follow in the footsteps of the inspiring leaders before me who have shaped Carevide into the trusted, community-focused organization it is today,” said Michael Glas. “The foundation of integrity, partnership, and compassion they built gives us an extraordinary platform for the future. I look forward to working hand in hand with our incredible team to strengthen Carevide’s mission and ensure that every community we serve continues to have access to the high-quality, compassionate care they deserve.”

As Carevide enters this new chapter, the organization remains steadfast in its mission to provide accessible, high-quality healthcare service to individuals and families across Northeast Texas.
