This October, our four Carevide Pediatrics locations hosted Boo to the Flu vaccine events. Children received their seasonal influenza vaccinations while getting Halloween treats in a safe, festive environment.
Getting a flu shot might not sound as exciting as Halloween, but it’s one of the best ways to keep kids healthy during flu season.
Here’s why flu vaccination for kids matters:
- Age matters: All children aged 6 months and older should get a flu shot each season. Children younger than 6 months are too young to be vaccinated—so vaccinating the people around them is particularly important.
-
It’s not just about your child: Vaccinating your child helps protect siblings, grandparents, and the whole community.
-
The vaccine can’t give your child the flu: Side-effects (if any) are mild (soreness, low fever), and the vaccine works by triggering antibodies, not by giving the live disease. Mayo Clinic
-
Keep up preventive habits: Vaccination is first line, but hand hygiene, keeping sick children home, and covering coughs/sneezes all help reduce spread.
