Carevide Embarks on Downtown Building Renovation in Cooper

May 31, 2024

Carevide Cooper is thrilled to announce a building renovation project that aims to modify and enhance its current building located at 91 West Side Square, Cooper, Texas 75432 in order to continue meeting the healthcare needs of Delta County.

Operating out of a 122-year-old building that was once the Delta Bank building in Downtown Cooper, Carevide has been a local healthcare provider offering accessible health care in Delta County for the last 16 years. However, the passage of time has taken its toll on the building, necessitating changes to ensure optimal functionality and aesthetics. The decision to undergo this renovation project comes as part of Carevide’s ongoing commitment to providing exceptional patient experiences in a welcoming environment as well as its pride for the Cooper community and revitalization efforts in the downtown area.

The goal of the project is to revitalize the center’s appearance, accessibility, and infrastructure, ensuring it reflects the quality medical services and compassionate care offered within its walls. Planned alterations to the facility include: updates to the exterior facade, interior updates and repurposing uninhabited space.

Alterations made to the exterior of the building are designed with a commitment to stay true to the history of the building as much as possible. Once exterior work is completed, the interior of the health center will be updated to support efficient workflows for patient satisfaction and efficiency. Unused square footage behind the building will be repurposed into a green space for downtown patrons to enjoy.

“We are excited about this remodeling journey to create a more functional and visually appealing space for our patients and the community,” said Michelle Carter, MPA-HCA Carevide’s Chief Executive Officer. “Our goal is to not only provide outstanding medical care but also to ensure that our facility reflects the high standards of quality and excellence that define our health center. I was a patron of the Delta Bank many years ago and it has been a pleasure working on this project to restore and preserve a piece of history in the local community.”

Jennifer Speulda, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, Carevide’s Family Nurse Practitioner is “ excited to see how they are able to preserve most of the beautiful architectural details original to the building that were uncovered by demolition. I am excited to see the finished product.”

The remodeling process on the building began in February of 2024 and is projected to be complete by Fall of 2024 or Spring of 2025. During this time, Carevide will remain fully operational, with minimal disruptions to patient care.

Patients and community members are encouraged to follow Carevide’s social media channels for updates and progress reports on the remodeling project. .  This project is supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of an award totaling $790,950 with 20% financed with non-governmental sources.  The contents are those of the author and do not necessarily represent the official views of, nor an endorsement, by HRSA, HHS, or the U.S. Government.  For more information, please visit HRSA.gov.
